In celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Gloria Anzaldúa’s book Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza, UTRGV’s Anzaldúa Speaker Series in Philosophy presents: Gloria Anzaldúa’s Radical Contributions to 21st Century Thought.

Deep Ellum Pint Night, Tuesday 8pm, University Draft House. Free glass with purchase of a Deep Ellum Dream Crusher.

21st Annual Hidalgo County Child Abuse Prevention Candlelight Vigil, Thursday 5:45pm, CASA of Hidalgo County. Walk from CASA to the Hidalgo County Courthouse for a vigil to remember those our community has lost to child abuse.

Dash for Disabilities 5K, Saturday 7am, UTRGV. Early registration: $20. Proceeds benefit CAMP University.

3rd Annual Islamic Festival, Saturday 11am-4pm, Masjid Arridwan. Free community event featuring food, art, activities for kids and more.

IHRA Drag Racing, Saturday 4-10pm, Edinburg Motorsports Park. Local and out of town competitors face off.

Team Mario Autism Awareness 5K, Saturday 4-10pm, H-E-B Park. A Star Wars-themed 5K (costumes encouraged) for autism awareness. Plenty of prizes, plus the first 500 registered will get a ticket to the RGCFC Toros Autism Night game. Registration: $30.

Sunday Speaker Series: Hidalgo Cemetery 1884: Hidalgo’s Hidden History, Sunday 2-3pm, Museum of South Texas History. Esther Camacho, reference librarian at the McAllen Public Library, will explore the history of the 130-year old Hidalgo Cemetary. Included in regular admission.
